APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF DIRECTOR, IBSD,  IMPHAL

Ministry of Science & Technology (Department of Biotechnology), Government of India, invites applications from / nominations of eligible persons for the post of Director in its Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal. IBSD is an autonomous organization funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, registered as a society under the Manipur State Societies Registration Act. 2.   The IBSD is to develop and utilize the rich bioresources of the north-eastern region of the country through the application of modern tools of biology and biotechnology.

      The details of the job and other particulars are given below:

a)   The Director is expected to provide both academic as well as administrative leadership to the Centre in its extramural and intramural activities.

b)   The post is in the Pay Band – IV of Rs. 37,400-67,000 + Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000/-, with allowances as per Central Government Rules.

c)   Age (desirable): below 50 years

d)   Qualification: The candidate should posses:

      Essential: (a) A Master’s degree in Modern Biology / Life Sciences (b) Ph. D. Degree or equivalent degree in the relevant subject (c) High academic credentials in the area of modern biology / life sciences as evidenced through proven ability to carryout independent research and provide leadership for research in emerging areas of bioresources (d) Minimum 15 years of experience in responsible positions of work in R&D / Planning / Industrial / Academic Institutions / Science & Technology organizations.

      Desirable: (a) Familiarity and ability to interact with National and International Institutes / Organizations involved in promotion of bioresource research (b) Understanding of ecological parameters, biodiversity conservation and utilization.

3.   Main Duties of the Director:

a.   Leadership and strategic direction: Provide overall direction and leadership to the Institute. Develop and implement the strategic goals, objectives and scientific priorities of the Institute. Provide direction and leadership to the Institute’s staff ensuring that they operate to the highest standards, that appropriate quality controls, infrastructure, training and support are in place to enable them to fulfill their functions effectively.

b.   Programme establishment, development and operations: Play a central role in the set up and development of the Institute’s research programme and their implementation. Ensure that a culture of continuous improvement is embedded within the institute.

c.   Institute’s marketing, community and public relations: Oversee marketing and promotion of the Institute and ensure its activities are consistently presented in strong and positive manner to relevant stakeholders.

d.   Partnership liaison: Develop and maintain effective relationships by creating effective structures to ensure close liaison, coordination and communication relating to the activities of the Institute. Maintain relationships with the relevant academic / other communities.

4.   General: (a) The applicant must be a citizen of India (b) Age limit is relaxable up to five years for Government servants and SC/ST candidates (c) the applicants in Government / Semi-government organizations / Public Sector Undertakings / Autonomous Organizations must send their applications “Through Proper Channel”. The applications received without the recommendations of the employers will not be considered (d) The crucial date of determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications (e) The Department can consider granting higher start as may be permissible under the rules in the pay scale of the post in the case of deserving candidates (f) Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to-and-fro air-fare / rail-fare by the shortest route as per rules on production of proof of journey.

5.   Completed applications strictly in the format given below with a passport size photograph fixed at the space shown in the format alongwith testimonials should be sent to Dr. Mohd. Aslam, Director / Scientist ‘F’, Department of Biotechnology, Block-2, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi – 110003 superscribing the cover, the post applied for within 45 days from the date of publication of advertisement. The closing date for receipt of application from candidates residing abroad and from Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshdweep Islands, States/Union Territories in the North-Eastern region, Ladakh region of J&K, Sikkim, Sub division Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh will be 60 days.
